Will England Break The Barrier Tunisia This Time

England will be facing Tunisia on June 18, 2018 and it is largely concluded that they will emerge as winners without much of a fight. They do not have good memory of their previous world cup when they could not defeat any of their counterparts in their group. With Tunisia, they can hope to make amends to the same.

England has a bunch of heroes in the team but they fail to perform at the tournaments of importance. To make matters worse, they have left out a number of players due to injuries. The key English player is Harry Kane, who was the top goal scorer. He is considered as the best striker of the ball in the football world and it would be a shame if he does not deliver the goods this time. Kyle Walker along with Danny Rose are the defenders that need to gear up. Eric Dier and Dele Alli are the two players who will keep the mid field strong.

Phil Jones, Ashley Young, and Kieran Trippier add experience to the backline.

Tunisia is into the tournament without their one and only star player Youssef Msakni, due to injury. The veterans include goal keeper Aymen Mathlouthi, defender Ali Maaloul, mid fielder Ferjani Sassi and forward Naim Sliti. Wahbi Khazri too can be considered as a good player at the forward position. Though the players have played at club level, which is the strongest in Africa, the squad lacks enough experience and depth in the attack. Only 7 players in the whole team have played for teams and clubs in Europe, so one can see the amount of quality they have.

Another bone of contention for Tunisia is the qualification itself. For such nations, qualifying for world cup is a dream come true, which might hamper their development in the tournament.

A fact not to be forgotten is that England has not conceded a single goal in 60% of their previous ten games played. England won against Tunisia in the world cup in 1998, with a 2-0 victory. But that was almost 20 years ago. Things have changed now but unless the English players show some dedication, things won’t look nice. There is no excuse for England to oust Tunisia from the tournament but they have always given much hope to their fans and later disappointing them to the core. Let us see what they have in store this time around.
