Argentina and Croatia are placed in the Group D of the FIFA World Cup 2018 tournament. They are scheduled to face each other on 21st June, 2018 at the Nizhny Novgorod stadium.
The placement of team Argentina in a group with Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria does not seem to cause much threat to the team. The captain Lionel Messi is going to take the responsibility on his shoulders and it should not be too difficult for him. But even so, he would definitely need the support of his team members. The main contributions should be coming from Angel di Maria, Sergio Aguero, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain. But if Messi fumbles, the team will fumble. And that is something that everybody is aware of.
But the Croatians are a hard working bunch of players. They have quality players who play for reputed European leagues, as well as experience in their squad. Though they have not basked in the glory of a win in any world cup till now, they are very much capable to give a tough fight to the Argentina squad. The coach, Zlatko Dalic has the right mix of experience and quality in captain Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Marcelo Brozovic and Darijo Srna, Domajog Vida, Vedran Corluka and Sime Vrsaliko.
The 2 teams are the strongest ones in their group. Argentina would have played its game with Iceland before they see Croatia and similarly, Croatia would have faced the Nigerians. If all goes well, they would both be meeting with a win each in their kitty. Both the teams have great attacking talent and none of them take their back lines seriously.
Croatia have done well to show the world in their international fixtures and the time is appropriate now to beat the Argentineans and march further in the tournament. Their players are all raring to go.
Although Argentina has their own impressive attack, a new star may be rising for them. Manuel Lanzini is the one everyone is talking about. He is creative, good goal scorer and a commendable work rate.
With both the teams not going strong on their defense, it seems none of the two will top the charts. The most likely event is a draw 2-2, at the final call of the whistle. Still, Argentina looks a tad bit stronger on the paper, football enthusiasts are expecting excitement and action resulting in a nail-biting finish, wherein both the nations may get a single point each.
