The Fight For The Final Berth Between France And Belgium

10th July 2018 at the Krestovsky Stadium is no ordinary day. Europe’s two best teams of football, namely France and Belgium, will be fighting for a berth at the FIFA World Cup 2018 final.

The French and the Belgians are no strangers to meet on the football pitch. They faced each other 73 times before this. The French won 24 times, and the Belgians had an upper hand with 30 wins and there were 19 draws between the two teams.

Team France would like to reach the finals and make it their 4th one in 7 attempts whereas Belgium has managed to be in the final 4 for the 2nd time in their football history. The Belgium coach will most probably stick to the same team as the one that defeated Brazil last week and the French coach might be in a dilemma as he has a number of options to choose from.

The display and promise that Belgium showed during their outing of Russia is one of the pride. They currently have a 100% record in this tournament. France has not created the kind of stir that is needed at the group stages but still, they delivered the punch against Argentina and Uruguay. They need to carry their confidence on their sleeves against the Belgian Red Devils, who are high on self-determination and confident.

Taking this into consideration, France will be cautious but not scared of their opponents. Coach Didier Deschamps did a good job of making the team mentally tough, and he was also the coach when France took home the 1998 World Cup as well the 2000 European Championship trophy. He took a bold risk to keep Pavard on the right and Hernandez on the left.

Regarding Roberto Martinez, there were speculations if he will carry the individual talents of players into a team. But the string of wins that Belgium had, following his appointment, has put to rest all doubts. He has brought in tactics in the game.

Team Belgium has been performing well consistently in international football, and their win over Brazil only reinstated their position and play. France is experienced, and it is producing stellar performance repeatedly.

The two teams have all the potential to become the world’s best football teams. They are strong in their attacking play, and the Tuesday match can see a shower of goals from both the sides.
