In all probability, Spain would not have recovered from the shock of their exit in the last FIFA World Cup. This, in fact, has erased the triumph of the World Cup 2010 against Netherland. There is no dearth of top-notch performers in the probable list. However, the right balance of the final team is a daunting task for the coach Julen Lopetegu, and we need to wait and watch how he fulfills his challenge.
Between the Poles
There is no doubt that the first preference would go to David de Gea. The consistency of his performance par excellence will pose a great threat any rival squad aiming a goal. As a backup, Pepe Reina would be an unhesitating choice.
The Defenders could be shortlisted from Dani Carvajal, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Marc Barta, Sergio Ramos, Nacho, Javi Martinez, and Cesar Azilicueta. There is a good choice of Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Thiago Alcantara, David Silva, Marco Asensio, Isco and Koke to fill the places of Midfielder position.
The Forward player positions will see Susu, Pedro, Alvaro Morata or Diego Costa in all probabilities depending upon various parameters. The central defense role could be entrusted to Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique while Sergio Busquets may start as a defensive midfielder. Most probably, the central midfield position might go to Saul Niguez and Thiago Alcantara.
If Lopetegui feels appropriate, Isco and Koke could start on either side of the flanks in which case, Marco Asensio and Susu could be forward players for the attack. There is no doubt at this stage that Diego Costa will have a striking chance, the backup being Alvaro Morata.
If the left-back position is assigned to Jordi Alba, he will do complete justice to the position with his straight and excellent passing skills. Similarly, Dani Carvajal could guard the right-back slot with his unparallel performance at the position worldwide. The presence of Carvajal’s into the half position of opponents would be a nightmare if the choice of a coach finds his place.
There is no doubt that the central defense by Javi Martinez and Cesar Azpilicueta besides the backup of Nacho would make the position stronger for Spain.
If the younger group is a choice of the coach, then Asensio will be a choice in which he might display his prowess. Similarly, the name going round in the grapevine is Suso who could strike as a right-winger.
