Can Croatia Prove Costly For Denmark?

Croatia is all set to lock horns with Denmark on 1 July in Nizhny Novgorod stadium. Team Croatia has been the surprise package of this tournament so far. Denmark is their first opponents in the knock out stage.

The Croatians have shown a remarkable display of game play in its group matches and are entering the second stage of the tournament as the favorites to go ahead from here. But, the Danes are not easy to tackle. They have their own tried and tested methods against each of the teams in the world and to think that they will allow their rivals to get past them so easily, is being foolish.

The Croats, on the other hand, were placed in a tough group, but they emerged with flying colors. They won all three of their matches with a magnificent 7-1 goal difference. It won’t be a surprise if they run long in the race for the world cup.

Although the Denmark team did not perform well in their group matches, they are a tough team to beat. They came forward right behind France from their group. In their world cup encounters, Denmark has been successful in taming the Croatians earlier. The Croatians fear that their opponents could send their highflying hopes of lifting the coveted cup down the drain. Christian Eriksen is the most feared man for the opponents.

Croatia is quite strong on the midfield, and they have been showing some exemplary play of late. Experience plays a major part in any football match, and Croatia is not short of that. Denmark too has not been as much disappointing. However, the way they played and settled for just one point against France in their last match showed that they are not aggressive. Perhaps lady luck was on their side on that particular day. However, truth be told, they did not seem of getting beyond a certain point, and they may fall short of tactics, attacks, defense and everything else against Croatia.

The pressure that knock out matches brings with them is at totally another level. The bookmakers feel that Croatians are better positioned to handle that kind of pressure since they have good players at all positions. They have proven that they are adaptable to a situation. Matches against Nigeria, Argentina, and Iceland are proof of that. The Danish are also not so generous. The game should most probably be a low scoring one.
